Queensland rents bush fire aircraft.

Queensland's firefighting efforts have been bolstered for the next three years with new aircraft secured in time for the bushfire season, including two former US military Black Hawk helicopters.

Queensland Fire Department (QFD) aerial firefighting artillery includes 14 contracted planes and helicopters equipped for waterbombing and intelligence gathering.

The fleet is based at airfields around the state, including Bundaberg and Toowoomba, for quick deployment to support firefighting crews on the ground.

She said the state government had invested $12.7 million to secure the aircraft until the end of the 2028-29 bushfire risk period.
